PEOPLE OF MY COUNTRY

O people of my country.

Don’t despise the flag and its symbolic meaning.

Our mornings keep getting difficult, and our evening appears sorrowful.

But don’t forget to sing the anthem with a burning hope.

O people of my country.

Our freedom is threatened with greed and power-drunkness.

Some of our brothers seeking a better life are suffering in another man’s land.

Their substance finds meaning under the shadow of another country.

But in their own country, their stars are silent in the night.

And their lips are full of debts.

Some are even dying now.

Others are afraid to return home.

O people of my country.

Don’t fill your eyes with tears.

Don’t bow your head with a broken heart.

Our country never left us.

Even though some leaders uprooted the trees to deny us of the shade,

May we never get fed up with our country.

O people of my country.

With a shaking palm, we are praying.

We hope not to lose our remaining stars.

We are hoping our remaining kites never lose their wings

Do not make us a sleep in your eyes, o poor leaders.

Do not sleep on our future. Whiles, we wake up with teary eyes.

Somewhere in our hearts is a little light of hope.

The time we have is now.

It is right in front of us.

We can’t die with our hope

We can only live a little

In between our lonely mornings and barren night,

May the place of pain in our heart

Be replaced with better leaders who won’t eat our tomorrow today.

It is well
